Prior to joining HIF, Dr. Cabral was surgeon-in-chief and director of Quality Surgical Care PA, a surgical practice focusing on patient-centric care, offering personal attention to patients and their problems. In the course of 20 years of his general surgery practice Dr. Cabral has performed over 3000 hernia repairs, including many in 2020 with Dr. Young at the Hernia Institute using the Prolene Hernia System mesh Most recently, using   the Prolene Hernia System technique developed by Dr. Gilbert in 1997. In addition to classic open surgery techniques, Dr. Cabral has extensive experience with robotic / laparoscopic repairs for select patients who may benefit from these techniques. Dr. Cabral is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Dr. Cabral is a member of the American Hernia Society.

Dr. Cabral states: “Over the years I have used all of the techniques for hernia repair, beginning with early suture techniques, different mesh repairs, as well as robotic and laparoscopic techniques as they have been developed. By asking me to join him at The Hernia Institute, Dr. Young has given me the opportunity to continue practicing surgery at a very high-quality level. Dr. Gilbert and Dr. Young have taken a very select area of surgery and have become nationally and internationally recognized as renowned experts in the field of hernia surgery, with specialization in managing Workers’ Compensation patients. The administrative and educational challenges are very exciting for me. As my mentors, I will be able to use all of their knowledge and experience to continue the tradition of quality that they have created here in South Florida. I am proud to have been selected to continue the tradition and quality of service of the Hernia Institute.”
