Our Philosophy
The Hernia Institute philosophy is that the delivery of excellent patient care begins with an experienced staff, dedicated to assisting patients with basic questions regarding their possible hernia problems. The majority of our staff has been at the Institute or over fifteen years – they are qualified to answer many questions about hernias, and also to set up consultations and visits. They can answer most questions about insurance and finances related to hernia care. They understand that certain cases may be more urgent than others, particularly patients with significant pain.
Our staff is accustomed to providing concierge services for out of town and international patients, including air travel, local airport and hotel transfers and hotel accommodations. Approximately two thirds of our patients come from outside our local community – other counties, other states, and international patients, many of whom “fly-in” or drive in for their evaluation and surgery.
Our staff is familiar with caring for Workers’ Compensation patients with hernias, who comprise a large part of our practice, with an experience of more than 12000 cases. Our staff is always available to communicate with adjusters and nurse case managers to discuss the care of the injured worker. Because their injury affects their ability to work, we understand the workers’ need for priority or expedited service, including consultations, and scheduling of surgery for local and out of town patients.
